How Take-Home Pay is Calculated

Understanding the step-by-step process of Philippine statutory payroll deductions

Standard Net Pay Formula

Net Take-Home Pay = Gross Salary − (SSS + PhilHealth + Pag-IBIG) − Withholding Tax
Step 1

Mandatory Deductions

Compute the employee share for SSS (with WISP), PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG based on your monthly basic salary.

Total Contributions = SSS + PhilHealth + Pag-IBIG
Step 2

Taxable Income

Subtract the total mandatory contributions from your gross monthly salary to determine taxable pay.

Taxable Income = Gross Salary − Total Contributions
Step 3

Withholding Tax

Apply the revised 2023+ BIR TRAIN Law brackets to your taxable income. Income ≤ ₱20,833/mo is tax-exempt.

Tax = Bracket Base + (Excess × Tax Rate)
Step 4

Net Take-Home Pay

Deduct both statutory contributions and withholding tax from gross salary to arrive at your final payout.

Net Pay = Gross − Total Deductions

Salary Calculator FAQs

Common questions about Philippine payroll deductions, mandatory contributions, and TRAIN Law computations.

Under the TRAIN Law (RA 10963), employees whose annual taxable income does not exceed ₱250,000 are completely exempt from income tax (0% tax rate). If your taxable income (gross salary minus SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG contributions) is ₱20,833/month or below, no withholding tax will be deducted from your payslip.
